Two of the company’s founders, Kane Magee and Damon De Boor, are at the start line of the 2023 Adventure Race World Championship, Expedition Africa. This year’s World Championship will be held in the Kouga region of Eastern Cape, South Africa. The Kouga region is known for its diverse landscape, including mountains, forests, rivers, and coastline.
Kane is competing with UK team Beacon on Safari, (team 22) while Damon is competing with his native South African team Truffle Hunters (team 15).
The race will cover over 500 kilometers through the rugged terrain of the Kouga region of Eastern Cape, South Africa. Teams will compete day and night, using the traditional Adventure Racing disciplines of trekking, cycling and kayaking as well as facing challenges such as crossing rivers and descending a 50m waterfall.
The race is expected to take around 10 days to complete, and is a true test of endurance, teamwork, and navigation skills.
Both Kane and Damon are experienced adventure racers, and are both highly motivated to perform well in this year’s World Championship.
Kane said: “I’m really excited to be competing in Expedition Africa this year. It is such an exciting event to be a part of, attracting the best adventure racers in the world.”
Damon said: “I’m really looking forward to racing in my home country again. It’s going to be a tough race, but I’m confident that Truffle Hunters can do well. We’re a strong team, and we’re all working hard to be prepared.”
